Strategic guidance for family advisors & partners

Partnering with service providers to better support owners

We work hard to stay up to date with the many service providers that attend the Family Owner segment across our principal geographies.

Guiding clients on when to seek external support

Families have multiple needs where specialist advice from third parties is beneficial. We help families identify when they do not have the relevant capabilities and knowledge in-house, and where they should reach out to a specialist firm.

Helping clients find suitable advisors

We help to clearly specify the advice or support they require and identify a short list of firms that may best be able to help – from our network or theirs. We are available to brief the suppliers, collate the offers help the client make the best choice based on scope, approach, deliverables, team and price.

Tailoring and positioning your recommendations

We can help the preferred supplier to navigate and understand our client, saving time and avoiding pitfalls. We also help position recommendations, leveraging our understanding of the client’s needs and preferences.

CLIENT STORY

Modernising a family employment policy

The Chair of the Family Council of a fourth-generation consumer goods multinational sought support in updating a family employment policy that had not been reviewed for 20 years. Recognising the importance of engaging the next generation of owners, the Chair wanted the redrafting to be a collaborative experience, involving members of both the current and next generations.

Our partner helped to design a process that would be led by the generation that it would impact, with oversight from the current generation.

The Family Council appointed a group of four next generation family members – two with current business roles and two from outside the business. This group aligned on the objectives and approach for the process, which was managed over a two-month period.
